HD fabric 0.42mm matt white

Description

HD fabric 0.42mm matt white screen fabric is one of the most common and widely used types of projection screen material. It is a non-glossy, white fabric with a neutral base, designed to provide a balanced and accurate color reproduction from projectors.

Main Characteristics
Neutral Color Temperature: Pure white base ensures accurate color reproduction without adding any tint.

Wide Viewing Angle: Provides a consistent image for viewers sitting at wide angles to the screen.

Non-Glossy Surface: The matte finish effectively diffuses light to minimize hot-spotting (a bright spot in the center of the image).

Versatility: Works well with various types of projectors (LCD, DLP, LCoS) in environments with controlled lighting.

Key Specifications
Gain: Typically 1.0 to 1.2.

Gain is a measure of a screen’s reflectivity compared to a standard white wall (which has a gain of 1.0).

A gain of 1.0 means it reflects the same amount of light as a wall. A gain of 1.1 reflects 10% more light. HD fabric screens are generally very close to a neutral 1.0 gain.

Thickness: The thickness generally is about 0.42mm(±0.02).

Structure
HD fabric is typically a composite material with a layered structure:

Base Layer (Substrate): A strong, flexible woven vinyl or polyester fabric that provides the material’s durability and stability.

Surface Coating: A white, matte-finish PVC or polyurethane coating is applied to the base layer. This coating is carefully formulated to be highly reflective yet diffuse, creating the optimal surface for projection. The surface has a very fine texture to help scatter light evenly.

HD fabric 0.42mm matt white Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages:
Accurate Color Reproduction: The neutral white color does not alter the projector’s color output, ensuring faithful image quality.

Excellent Viewing Angle: Viewers can see a clear image from almost any angle (often up to 160 degrees or more) without loss of color or contrast, making it ideal for wide rooms.

Resists Hot-Spotting: The diffuse surface spreads light evenly across the entire screen, preventing a bright, distracting spot in the center of the image.

Cost-Effective: It is generally one of the most affordable types of projection screen material.

Versatile: Performs well in dedicated home theaters, conference rooms, and classrooms where ambient light can be controlled.

Flatness:It is very flat,0.42mm matt white is better than 0.38mm matt white, can be used for big screens.

Disadvantages:
Low Peak Brightness (Compared to High-Gain Screens): Because it diffuses light in all directions, it does not reflect as much light back to the primary viewing spot as a high-gain screen (e.g., grey or ALR screens). This makes it less suitable for rooms with significant ambient light.

Lower Perceived Contrast (in non-light-controlled rooms): In a dark room, contrast is excellent. However, because it reflects ambient light from all directions just as it does the projector’s light, any stray light in the room will wash out the image and reduce perceived black levels.

Not an Ambient Light Rejecting (ALR) Screen: It cannot reject light coming from the ceiling or sides, unlike specialized ALR screens.
